How to Choose the Right Fintech Conference in 2027: A Guide for Founders, Investors and Bankers

The fintech events calendar gets busier every year. For founders, investors and bankers, the question is no longer whether to attend fintech conferences but which ones are worth the time, travel and budget. Here is a practical way to choose the right fintech events for 2027.

1. Start with the outcome you need

Every good event decision starts with a goal. Be specific about what success looks like:

  • Raising capital: you need investors in the room, and time to meet them
  • Finding customers or partners: you need buyers, such as banks, insurers and enterprises, not just other vendors
  • Learning and benchmarking: you need practitioners sharing specifics, not only big-picture keynotes
  • Building your brand: you need speaking slots, awards or media coverage

2. Check who is actually in the room

The attendee mix matters more than the headline numbers. Ask organisers for a breakdown of attendees by role and sector, look at who is speaking, and check whether decision-makers from banks and funds attend or only send their brand. A smaller room with the right people usually beats a bigger one without them.

3. Choose the right region

Go where your customers, investors and regulators are. The Gulf is one of the most active fintech markets for digital banking, Islamic finance and virtual assets. London remains Europe’s centre for open finance, regulation and growth capital. Singapore is the gateway to South-East Asia’s payments and embedded-finance opportunities. If you are expanding internationally, one event in each target region is often more useful than several in your home market.

4. Big festival or focused summit?

Large fintech festivals offer breadth and visibility but can make meetings hard to arrange. Focused summits offer fewer sessions but more time with the people you came to meet. Many teams combine one large event for visibility with a few focused fintech summits for deal-making.

5. Look beyond the ticket price

The real cost of a conference includes travel, accommodation, visas and time out of the business. Check for startup passes, group rates and early-bird pricing, and compare the cost of attending with the cost of sponsoring if brand visibility is a goal.

6. Plan meetings before you arrive

  • List the people and companies you most want to meet
  • Reach out two to three weeks before the event with a short, specific request
  • Use the speaker list and attendee app, if there is one, to find the right contacts
  • Prepare a one-line description of what you do and what you are looking for
  • Follow up within 48 hours while the conversation is fresh

7. Measure the return

After each event, record meetings held, pipeline created, investor follow-ups and partnerships started. Over a year, this tells you which fintech conferences deserve your time again.

Planning your 2027 fintech events calendar

A simple approach is to pick one event per region you care about and space them through the year. FinNext 2027 runs in Dubai on 6 February, London on 13 October and Singapore on 24 November, each built around investor meetings, regional content and the FinNext Awards. See passes and register.
